As a highly motivated Art Director, I have created, launched and redesigned some of the biggest-selling global consumer titles during my 27-year career. I was an instrumental part of the launch teams for Grazia and Love It!, two of the UK’s most successful weeklies, and relaunched Friday magazine, the most widely circulated lifestyle magazine across the Middle East. I’m experienced in every stage of project development, from initial concept to finished product.
Currently based in Dubai, I was most recently Art Director of Friday, the weekend supplement for Gulf News. I managed a team to develop the distinctive look, tone and style of the publication, as well as creating the design for topics spanning across local content, food, fashion, beauty, health and travel.
Working closely alongside the editor, I played a pivotal role in developing a brand strategy to drive revenue from new sources as well as pitching new campaign ideas to key advertisers. I also devised and delivered the successful relaunch of Friday’s social media accounts, creating strategies and awareness, as well as boosting followers by 50 per cent within weeks.
Alongside my skills as an art director – both across print and digital storytelling – I frequently execute photoshoots, both studio-based and on location, overseeing all aspects from concept to styling and direction. I have an excellent eye for photography and food styling and host my own food website. I have also self-published two online magazines, gasmarksix, where I showcase my own recipes, reviews, and travel features.
